Dead On Arrival~ Episode 25: Decayed Poll (Help Lin and Tao or Help Doctor Aaron Pinto?)

Help Dr. Aaron Pinto? -or- Help Lin and Tao?

I would say this may result in a death, but since it took me so long I may not get many votes and I have plans for these characters in the sorta reset. Whoever you choose though will result in an injury or an attitude change towards Nate. Maybe even their psyche. You decide!

You will see what happens in Vol. 2. via flashback and dialogue. Like I said, I don’t expect many votes, but I’ll work with what I get.

Vote at >>pollmaker! All votes are anonymous at less you comment.

Dead On Arrival~ Episode 25: Decayed (Part 3)

Episode 25: Decayed (Part 3)
The last time I had been knocked out I awoke to the smells and sounds of a hospital ward. This time I awoke to smells of death and the unbearable shrieking of the dead. I wasn’t sure where I was. I wasn’t even sure what happened, but I knew something had happened to me. I shook my head trying to shake off the sensation of it all and I squinted trying to adjust to the darkened room I found myself in now. My head felt like it was underwater looking through someone else’s eyes and my body felt like a ton of bricks.

Dead On Arrival~ Episode 25: Decayed (Part 2)

Episode 25: Decayed (Part 2)
My mind was spinning trying to comprehend what we had seen. I wanted to believe that there was safety in amongst these walls. Safety amongst the darkness that lurked within, but the world was again caving in on us. Driving us away from any semblance of normalcy and security. I wanted to curse myself for getting too comfortable. For playing native when I clearly saw the writing on the wall. Was Madison right all along? Was this place doomed from the start?

“CURFEW COMMENCING…”

“Fuck curfew!” Matthew roared.

“Language!”

“Oh please, Nate. He’s a teenager. Get real!”

Episode 25: Decayed (Part 1)
What happened in the storage room seem to set the tone for the next two months. A cloud of tension and despair hovered over the sanctuary like a thick fog. There were more armed guards roaming the halls more than ever now and the looks on some faces seem to say it all. Something in the atmosphere had changed. Not overnight as one might assume. No, it felt like something that was long coming. That was festering long before we set foot in this place. In fact, if it was up to Matthew we would have left months ago, but things were much more complicated than that. This place had food, medical supplies, and people. Weighing our options it seemed almost idiotic to just leave, but was staying even an option?

“Checkmate!” Omar smirked moving the chess piece across the board. Two of us sitting across from each other in his room spending a lazy afternoon shooting the breeze. A welcome distraction for us both.

Dead On Arrival~ Episode 24: From One Hell to Another (Part 3)

Warning: Gore and Strong language.

Episode 24: From One Hell to Another (Part 3)
Mark was nowhere in sight now leaving the two of us. Two broken souls alone in Toyland with the mutilated body of David Sharpe staring back at us. It took everything in me not to puke or scream. As I stood there trying to make the room stop spinning and my mind from going mad, I saw Audrey retreat to the other side of the room staring out the window. She sat down seeming oddly calm.

Dead On Arrival~ Episode 24: From One Hell to Another (Part 2)

Warning: Gore and Strong language.

Episode 24: From One Hell to Another (Part 2)
What is going on?” I repeated inching closer to the pair. “I don’t know what happen just now, but we all need to calm down before someone gets hurt.

“Nothing’s going on. Just discussing the fate of our friend here,” Mark smirked lowering his weapon. “She wants to save him and I just want to put the poor guy out of his misery.”

Dead On Arrival~ Episode 24: From One Hell to Another (Part 1)

Warning: This has scantily clad women in a strip club. You've been warned!

Episode 24: From One Hell to Another (Part 1)
I placed my palm on the cool glass of the window pane thinking back to that day. The pitter-patter of rain almost identical to that very day. The day I met Officer David Sharpe.

Dead On Arrival~ Episode 23: The Guilty and The Innocent (Poll Included! Vote Now!)

Note: The title of this chapter changed due to rewrites and it sounding cooler. xD

Episode 23: The Guilty and The Innocent
The stranger outside was growing more and more desperate to get in now. They pounded at the glass ferociously shaking the windows before us. I squinted through the darkness to see if I could make out our visitor, but a heavy fog had developed outside amongst the darkness of the night. It added to the eeriness of our situation. Vince even appeared to be a bit rattled. He rose to his feet slowly and grabbed his machete. I carefully lifted myself up grabbing the side of the table next to us. He looked back at me in disapproval and raised his hand for me to stop, but I couldn’t just sit there.
As he drew closer to the door, I quietly raised to my feet, grabbed my katana, and snuck up behind him limping slightly.

He inhaled and exhaled as he twisted the lock on the door. He cut his eye at me acknowledging my presence. Then he opened it.

Dead On Arrival~ Episode 22: Unspeakable

Episode 22: Unspeakable
It was nearly sundown when the guards drove us back into the building like cattle. We had spent the rest of the day arguing over the plan with Wade and Lin leading the charge of course, but somehow I knew our lighthearted banter would become something real. Something that we would have to actually do if we were to get out of this place. Eager as we were it wouldn’t be an easy feat. As I laid in bed I tried to make sense of it all. Was that code the key to our exit or was it a key to our deaths?

Dead On Arrival~ Episode 21: BloodStained

Note: This has been copied directly from my tumblr. Finished this before my computer went up. Posted via phone.

Episode 21: BloodStained

“Noooo! Don’t! Wait!”

The gun went off without fail and the deafening sound rung in my ears. The barrel of the gun stood straight up between us as we both took hold of it while the bullet meant for Audrey flew straight up like a rocket through the roof.

Dead On Arrival: Episode 20: The Plan (Poll included- Vote Now!)

Episode 20: The Plan

“The only clue you got was that the code is a birthday? How are we suppose to figure that out?” I asked frustrated as I faced my brother.
After our eye-opening night, we stood now outside in what they called the yard. A fenced off concrete area baking in the sun behind the building. It was simply a false sense of freedom I likened to recess, but it was more freedom than what we had inside. We could talk about plans and ideas here without the guards listening in. Not to say there weren’t guards around, but they seem more focused on the walkers outside the gate than us or any talk about codes.

Dead On Arrival: Episode 19: Heroes in Arms

Episode 19: Heroes in Arms

“Audrey! What are on you doing? Let’s get out of here!”

“I’m looking for something!”

I had already made quick work of scanning the area. I was kneeling down checking corpses when Vince had yelled out. I knew all too well he would disprove if I said what my search was exactly for. I just kept my head down checking corpse after corpse for weapons. My mind fully focus on the task as David watched while screaming his head off. Had I put too much thought into it I’m sure I would let my bitterness win leaving David to his demise, but I was better than that and he had done almost as much for me.

My search had seemed to be turning up nothing, but then I spotted him propped up against a tree motionless. A corpse dressed in fatigues. He wore a helmet and tactical gear. Gear that held weapons.

Dead On Arrival: Episode 18: Just Enough

Episode 18: Just Enough

“I’ve seen some things Doc. Mind if we have a talk?”

“Things? What do mean by ‘things’?” he said eyeing me suspiciously.

“The boy I came with. He’s dead. Is it customary here to shoot children in the head?"

"What? Where did you…? ”

He then furrowed his brow staring at something behind me, “Wait. That door is open…”

“Answer me,” I said quickly moving in front of the keypad and it’s glowing green light.

“Did you go in there?”

“Maybe, but you still haven’t answered my question. What the hell is going on here?!”

“This is terrible. Did anyone come with you? You mustn’t go in that room. You mustn’t! "You understand me? If they catch you in there…” he trailed off as footsteps echoed down the hall.

Dead On Arrival: Episode 17- What Remains (Poll Included- Vote now!)

Episode 17: What Remains
I watched it burn till sun rise. Till it was nothing more than a pile of rubble and flickering embers.
Thick smoke still darkened the sky, but something about the sun shining through gave me hope. Life even. Whenever I saw the sight of it in the sky and felt its comforting warmth I knew I had made it another day. I only wondered if my father had gazed upon the same sun rise. Had he made it another day? My uncle surely hadn’t, but his shelter had outlived him at least. I’m sure I would have waited forever there for my father to show up. The two of us would have had a good laugh about his crazy old fool of a brother being right over a meal, but that wouldn’t happen now. It was all gone. Everything.

Dead On Arrival: Episode 16: Nothing Left

Episode 16: Nothing Left
I faced Vince and our captors now. The fire still going steadily beside us. I tightened my grip on my weapon and prepared myself to fight, but Vince pleads had me rethinking my strategy.  "Audrey. Run. Go,“ he begged.

“No!” I shouted back without little thought.

Dead On Arrival: Episode 15- Uncovered (Poll included)

Warning: Slight nudity and gore of course.

Episode 15: Uncovered

“What the hell?”

She sighed closing the door slightly, “You can’t tell me you’re not at least a little bit curious about this place.”

“Of…Of course, but…”

“Then come with me. You and Nate.”
“No,” I heard Nate voice boom from behind me. “I mean…we just got here and you’re trying to get us in trouble already?”
I turned around to him shocked by his initial response, but I was even more surprised by his expression. He looked nervous. I wasn’t sure what to make of it. Not wanting to stir the pot the first night seemed rational, but what was with the outburst. Why was he so nervous suddenly?

Dead On Arrival: Episode 14- Behind Closed Doors

Episode 14: Behind Closed Doors

I stood in what look like a cafeteria now surrounded by strangers. A big room with tables, countertops of food and people. More people I had seen in days. Weirdly enough I had stuck with the group who I was quarantined with. I guess you could say we were bounded now due to our previous predicament. Human nature was funny like that. It almost felt like I was back in high school again in some type of weird clique, but I didn’t bother to chat with them. I couldn’t because I couldn’t take my eyes off the double doors. Every time they opened I prepared myself to see him and every minute that went by I prepared myself to hear bad news. It was agonizing. Where on earth was Nathan?

Dead On Arrival: Episode 13- Where There’s Smoke. There’s Fire

Episode 13: Where There’s Smoke. There’s Fire

I watched her disappear into the night. Into the crowd of the dead. Charging through them like a soldier in the midst of battle. She left a trail of corpses in her wake. Blood decorated the ground she walked on. I was relieved that blood wasn’t mine. That she had spared me for now, but they were more pressing manners at hand. I turned my attention back to Mark who was a spectator on the sidelines now. His eyes darting between me and the car before us.
