Dead On Arrival~ Season 2- Episode 6: I’m No Enemy

Episode 6: I’m No Enemy
Meanwhile in the bathroom…

“Come on. I don’t want to hurt you. I just want to talk,” the woman continued. I looked under the door to see her standing at the sink with her back to me now.

“You know you can’t stay in there forever. I’m not going to do anything. I promise.”
I hesitated, staring at the lock. Would she really stand there all day waiting for me? Was she really not going hurt me? And what about Vince? Was he ok? As much I hated to admit it I was afraid. I knew I would have to come out sooner or later. I knew I would have to face her. After several minutes, I worked up the courage and finally unlock the door. Opening it slowly. My heart jumping in my chest as it creaked.

Dead On Arrival~ Season 2- Episode 5: Two of a Kind

Episode 5: Two of a Kind

Meanwhile…
I paced back and forth anxiously waiting for my pint-sized companion, Audrey. She was one ballsy chick that one. Smart too. Smart enough to see right through me I’m sure. There were so many times I just wanted to up and leave. Escaped those sweet judging eyes, but I had promised her. Promised to help find her dad. Promised her we would both find our loved ones together. To think a guy like me on some hero’s mission. It was a stark contrast from my life before and the selfish intentions I shared with my previous group. If you can even call us a group.

You see I had traveled with two men before meeting Audrey. A crooked cop, named David who framed me for murder and a convicted predator named, Mark. I had traveled with them for two months and had survived with them despite the dysfunctional dynamic between us, but back then it was all about preserving myself. Even if meant ignoring Mark’s angry outburst towards David and any poor souls we came across. Even if it meant looking away when David used his forked tongue to take advantage and hide his own dirt. Without batting an eye I watched them take and scheme.
Part of me even feeling at home with such behavior, but then I met Audrey and everything changed. She saved me. Both physically and mentally I was revived.

Now I was standing here doubting myself. Wondering what I would even say to her. The memories of them both perishing still fresh in my mind. The anger I felt when I almost killed Mark with my bare hands still vivid. If Audrey hadn’t stopped me I would have. That in itself scared me. How easy it was to resort to violence. To descend back into my old ways. Was I becoming the monster I once was or was I becoming something much worse? I wasn’t sure, but she had already made up her mind about me. I was sure of it.

I sighed stopping in my tracks eying a corpse just outside. “Speaking of monsters…”

I grasped the rifle still resting in my hand. Seeing the occasional corpse walking through wasn’t an unusual occurrence, but what came next definitely was. As I stepped forward towards the doorway ready to dispose of the mindless bag of bones, a strange man appeared out of nowhere behind it. He grabbed it by the head and stabbed it with his knife. Another man then ran up behind him carrying a gas can. They were both tall, white, blonde from what I could see, but one wore a long coat and a mask. A woman was also with them, but she veered to the left suddenly as they came closer to the rest stop.
I ducked behind the counter. Both in shock and in fear. Who were these people? What did they want? I watched the masked guy in the coat ordered his companion to fill up the gas can pointing towards the pumps. He seemed to be the leader. He stopped briefly studying our car. His hand lightly gliding across the hood as he walked. He then reached in his pocket and pulled out a glock as his eyes narrowed on the rest stop before him.

He entered slowly and cautiously brandishing his weapon. I held my breath as he reached the counter placing his palm on it. As he leaned over the counter, the other man called out to him.

“Hey, Matt! You got to look at this car!”

He turned around lowering his gun and his guard. He gestured for his partner to be quiet and turned around to my rifle in his face. His eyes widened and he froze.
“Put the gun down,” I said. My eyes still glued to his weapon. He slowly placed it on the counter and held up his hands.

"Good. Good. Now, who the hell are you?!”

He pulled down his mask and glared back at me. “Who are you?”

His partner then came walking in. The gas can still in his hand. He dropped it immediately upon seeing us.

“Oh, shit! Please don’t shoot. Please. We…we just wanted gas, sir”, he stammered. “Are you…are you the owner? We can give it back.”

I snickered, “The owner is dead. His body’s out back with a bite wound and a bullet in the head. Nah. I’m no owner. Just surviving. Now tell me is this your brother…Matt or Matthew? I did hear that right, right?”

The one they called, “Matt” looked back at his brother shooting him a dirty look and turned back to me frowning. “Yes. As my brother said we need gas. Are you alone here?”
“I’m the one asking the questions, here. I got the upper hand.”

“And we got the numbers,” he smirked. “So tell me what’s your name? You know mine. And well this is Nathan. Yours?”

My rifle remained trained on him. I rolled my eyes. “Whatever. I guess it doesn’t matter. It’s Vince. Now tell me. Where did your lady friend go?”

“Lady friend?”

“Don’t play stupid. I saw her. Where she go?!”

“To the restroom,” Nathan blurted out nervously.

“Nathan!” Matt hissed.

“Audrey…,” I gasped.

“Who?” they both said in unison as they exchanged puzzled looks and panic began to set in.

Sorry for the delay. I totally felt the pressure of getting this meeting right both visually and in writing! It’s an important and awesome moment! Hoped you liked it! The next chapter will follow this week and hoping to do another Friday! *crosses fingers*

Dead On Arrival~ Season 2- Episode 4: I Know You’re There

Episode 4: I Know You’re There
“Good morning, sunshine. About time you got up.”

I rubbed my eyes and peered up to see Vince sitting in front of the store now. Gun in hand and eyes glued to the landscape before him. An open can of peaches sitting on the counter between us.
“Breakfast?”

He turned around looking embarrassed. “Yeah. I was planning to save the can of beans for later. I can try to scrounge up something else.”

“No. We’re getting low I know. It’s fine for now. Have you eaten?”

“Nah. I’ll wait till later. I’ll be fine,” he said turning back around. He then reached in his pocket pulling out a ring of keys and held them up. “You’re going need these I suppose.”

“Thanks. Definitely, need to freshen up. I look like a corpse,” I grumbled taking the bathroom keys.

He smirked. “Well, that’s no different from usual.”

“You’re an ass,” I said playfully shooting him a dirty look as I rose to my feet.

He laughed. “Need a chaperone? Like in case you fall into the toilet or something?”

“No!”

“Then I’ll be right here. Call if you need anything and take your sword,” he said striking a more serious tone. “And Audrey…”

I stopped halfway out the door. I turned to capture his eyes. Sorrowful and deep. He continued, “Maybe we can talk more when you come back.”
I was a bit surprised, but I nodded and smiled. He seemed more lighthearted and approachable today. Maybe something I had said last night had resonated with him.

I made my way to the bathroom just next door. It wasn’t exactly the most hygienic, but we were lucky to have running water and a roof over our heads. I sure didn’t miss our time in the forest. As I passed by a row of mirrors I caught a brief glimpse of myself and cringed. I wondered if my father would even recognize me now. I definitely wasn’t the same girl that I was at the start of this. I went from a slacker playing video games in her room to living in a world I thought was only reserved for video games and movies. I had drawn blood and seen the unimaginable. Would he still think of me as his little girl?

I sat in the stall for a moment contemplating such thoughts. My trips here often allotted me much needed alone time. Sometimes I would spend time thinking while other times I would scribble on the walls of the stall. I pulled out my marker feeling a spark of inspiration then and decided to draw a silly doodle.
As I began, I heard the door open and rolled my eyes assuming it was Vince. Then I heard humming. Feminine sounding humming. I froze.

It was a woman. I was sure of it. I bent down peering from underneath the stall confirming my suspicion as I spotted her high heel boots. She hummed along to a familiar rock song playfully dancing about. She then stopped abruptly and bent down checking the stall next to me.

I immediately sat down on the toilet and put both my feet up as I heard her go down the row. I held my breath when she stopped in front of mine. I glanced at the lock on door thanking the heavens I had chosen to lock it this time. She peered under my stall taking a quick glance and pulled at the door. When she failed to open it I heard her take a few steps and stop. Then she spoke.
“I know you’re there. You can come out now.”

Hmm...that woman looks familiar. ;) Two new episodes next Friday!!!

I'm back out of retirement. Joined a modeling competition.

It's been 3 months since last competing. They might be a record.šŸ˜² This specific comp captured my eye though and it's being hosted by a really awesome person. It's called...

There's a series of rounds/assignments like your typical comp, but our lovely host, Jojo provides the backgrounds.šŸ˜ƒ

I gave Jasmine here a makeover, because her face annoyed me. Looks more natural now.

Going work on the first assignment tomorrow maybe.

Audrey: “No!”

-From Episode 4: I Know You’re There

Just an extra pic I took that I couldn’t let go. So sorta a sneak peek. The next episode will be posted this Friday and two more episodes will follow next Friday to make up for missing a week. :D

P.S. In the event you didn't read Tumblr, I was catching up on school work and dealing with an ill family member last Friday. All is well now and I got a 100 on my last assignment. :)
